KEY ACCOUNT MANAGER – PERSONAL CARE AND HI&I

Fitz Chem Corp (Itasca IL)

Position Location:  Home office in IL, IN, MI or OH.  Other Midwest states will be considered only for extremely strong candidates.

Position Summary:  The Key Account Manager will maximize profit and revenue for specialty chemical sales at large regional customers and prospects, including global leaders with headquarters in the central US.  Growth is achieved through a sales budget with defined criteria by specific product line and product group. The position will also achieve growth through direct management of two Fitz Chem supplier partners, with accountability for total Fitz Chem supplier sales for those partners.  This is a senior sales position, with responsibilities and performance expectations consistent with more senior sales skills.  Majority of customer activity will be in IL, IN, OH and MI.  Position reports to Sales Director, Care Chemicals.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Annual business plans, analysis of results to plan, presentations and meetings with various management levels internally and externally.
  • Customer and supplier meetings, project development, market share shift, sales and inventory projections.
  • Pipeline development and management, where documentation of pipeline progress and post-sales to projection is critical to success.
  • Internal training, communication and industry activities as needed to achieve supplier growth plans.
  • Transactional and operational activities related to the above (with help from internal Sales Support functions) such as:  Product sampling, price quotations, customer bids, supplier forecasting, and escalation of operational issues as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Science required, Chemistry preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years specialty chemical sales into global and/or US brand leaders in the Food, Personal Care or HI&I space.
  • Minimum of 3 years distribution specialty chemical account management, either as a manufacturer or as a distributor.
  • Track record of aggressive growth through developmental as well as tactical sales.
  • Success building at least one customer from a start at sales of zero or very low dollar base.

Knowledge – Skills – Abilities:

  • Knowledge of key market segments, players, customers and competitors.
  • Comfort in communicating with various organizational levels and functions at Fitz Chem, customers and suppliers.
  • Professional maturity dealing with matters of potential or perceived conflict within Fitz Chem, customers and suppliers.
  • Quick learner who works independently and uses direct supervisor for strategic guidance and not daily or weekly task instruction.
